Somehow the word "liberal" has been misused and abused in the political sphere.  But liberal comes from the same root as liberty, to be free.  At The Center for Continuous Learning we believe that in going beyond our comfort zones and experiencing more than pragmatic learning we are free to grow as individuals.

The Center at Ursinus is proud of its long tradition as a liberal arts institution.  Of course, our adult students are interested in improving their skills and knowledge, but our program asks more of them.  It challenges them to think, to write, to discuss, to convince and to seek truth.  We ask students to step outside of their environments to learn about other cultures.  We require that they contemplate deep questions of meaning.  We urge them to experience the arts, going beyond their major.

It is when we can think "outside the box" that we truly demonstrate our creativity and ingenuity, both in our careers and in our lives.  That's a freedom worth seeking.
